After visiting Kristy’s family quarry in upstate New York in 2009, the two grabbed a few pieces of slate to use as all-purpose boards back home in Brooklyn. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSean and Kristy discovered how well the slate pieces worked (and how pretty they looked) when used as trivets for tea kettles and hot dishes and as coasters for beers.
